About these terms
These terms apply when you buy a product from, or use a service of, Alvyntra (Proprietorship), trading as Alvyntra, 9A, 2nd School Lane, North Dum Dum, Kolkata, West Bengal 700065, India (GSTIN 19ABCDE1234F1Z5). By placing an order, approving a quote or leaving a device with us, you agree to them. Business customers on an annual maintenance contract (AMC) are also covered by their written contract, which takes priority where the two differ.
Nothing in these terms limits the rights you have as a consumer under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 or any other Indian law.
Buying a computer
- Enquiry-based shop. Our website shows products and sample configurations, but you cannot pay online. Prices, specifications and availability are confirmed when you enquire, and the price on your invoice is the price you pay.
- Mistakes. If a product is listed with an obvious error in its description or specification, we will tell you before you pay and you may cancel.
- Check at handover. Please check the product, accessories and invoice when you collect it, and tell us straight away about anything missing or damaged.
- New products carry the manufacturer’s warranty on the terms set by the brand. We will help you raise a claim with the brand or its service centre, but the brand decides the outcome.
Refurbished computers, returns and cancellations
Refurbished and pre-owned computers are tested before sale, and we describe their condition honestly, including any cosmetic marks. They come with our shop warranty of 6 months from the date of purchase. Batteries in pre-owned laptops have had previous use, so we tell you the battery’s condition before you buy.
- Faulty on arrival: if a product develops a fault covered by warranty, we will repair or replace it, or refund you if neither is possible.
- Change of mind: we accept change-of-mind returns only within 7 days for unused items with the bill, with the product unused, undamaged and complete with its accessories and invoice. Opened software and custom-built PCs cannot be returned for change of mind.
- Cancelling an order: you may cancel an order for an item we have ordered in for you before it arrives. If we have paid a non-refundable cost for a special order, we will tell you this before you confirm.
Repairs, diagnosis and quotes
- Booking in. When you leave a device, we record your details, the fault you describe and its visible condition on a job slip. Keep the slip; you will need it to collect.
- Diagnosis. We inspect the device to find the cause. Our diagnostic charge is ₹300, adjusted in the repair bill; we tell you before we start whether it applies and whether it is adjusted against the repair.
- Quote and approval. We give you a quote for parts, labour and the expected turnaround. No repair work starts until you approve the quote in person, by phone, by WhatsApp or by email.
- New findings. If we find another fault during the repair that changes the price, we stop and ask you again before going further.
- Turnaround. Times we give (typically same day to 3 working days) are estimates. Delays can happen when parts are late, and we will keep you informed.
- Risk on damaged devices. Devices with liquid damage, previous repairs, heavy physical damage or very old components can fail during or after repair even when the work is done correctly. We explain this risk before you approve, and in such cases the repair may carry a limited warranty or none, which we tell you in writing.
- Manufacturer warranty. If your device is still under its manufacturer’s warranty, tell us before we open it. Opening it or fitting a non-brand part may affect that warranty.
Parts
We use parts that match your model’s specifications. Depending on availability and your budget, a part may be original (from the device’s brand), compatible (made by another manufacturer to the same specification) or, where agreed, a tested used part. Your quote states which type we are using. Parts we remove are returned to you on request, except batteries and other items that must go for safe e-waste disposal, or parts we must send back to a supplier for a warranty exchange.
Your data and backups
- You are responsible for keeping a backup of your data. We take care with every device, but we are not responsible for loss of data except where it is caused by our negligence.
- If a repair needs the operating system reinstalled, we tell you first. We can back up your data as a separate, quoted service.
- Data recovery is attempted on a best-effort basis. We cannot guarantee that any or all data can be recovered, and we explain the likely outcome before you approve the cost.
- We access only what the repair needs and treat everything on your device as confidential. See our privacy policy.
- Remove SIM cards, memory cards, discs and pen drives before handing in a device. We are not responsible for accessories not listed on the job slip.
Collection, pickup and uncollected devices
- We tell you by phone, SMS, WhatsApp or email when your device is ready or when you decline a quote. Please collect it within 30 of that message, bringing your job slip or photo ID.
- If you arranged pickup or drop, the charge (if any) and timing are confirmed at booking. The device is in our care from the time we collect it until it is handed back to you.
- If a device is not collected within that period, we will send reminders to the contact details you gave us. We may then charge a storage fee of ₹50 per day. If it is still not collected after a final written notice, we may deal with the device as permitted by law to recover unpaid charges, including recycling it through an authorised e-waste channel after wiping any data.
Payment
Payment for repairs is due when you collect the device; payment for products is due before or at handover. We accept Cash, UPI, debit / credit card. We issue an invoice for every sale and repair (a GST invoice where applicable). For special-order parts or products, we may ask for an advance, which is stated on your quote and adjusted against the final bill. Business accounts and AMC customers pay as set out in their contract. We may keep a device until the charges for it are paid.
Our warranty
Repairs
Repairs are covered for 90 days on parts and labour from the date you collect the device. The warranty covers the parts we fitted and the work we did on them. If the same fault comes back within that period because of a defective part or our workmanship, we will fix it again at no charge for parts or labour. If we cannot, we will refund what you paid for that part of the repair.
Refurbished and pre-owned computers
Refurbished computers sold by us are covered for 6 months from the date of purchase against hardware faults that arise in normal use. We will repair it, replace the faulty part or, if that is not possible, offer a replacement computer of similar specification or a refund.
New computers
New products are covered by their manufacturer’s warranty. We will point you to the right service centre and help with the paperwork.

Limits of our liability
We are responsible for loss or damage that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. To the extent the law allows:
- our total liability for any product or service is limited to the amount you paid for that product or service;
- we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost business, lost profits or loss of opportunity, or for losses caused by events outside our reasonable control.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under Indian law.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of India. If something goes wrong, please talk to us first; most problems can be sorted out at the counter. If a dispute cannot be resolved, it will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts at Kolkata, West Bengal. This does not affect your right as a consumer to approach the appropriate Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The version that applies to your purchase or repair is the one shown on this page on the date you placed the order or approved the quote.
