Should I buy a new computer or repair my old one?

Many slow or faulty computers are worth fixing. Here is the honest rule of thumb we use when customers ask.

Repair or upgrade if…

  • It is roughly five years old or newer and one part has failed: screen, battery, charging port or drive.
  • It is slow but still on a hard disk. An SSD and more RAM often make it feel new.
  • The repair costs well under half the price of a comparable replacement.
  • Your software, licences and files are set up just the way you need them.

Buy new or refurbished if…

  • The processor is not supported by Windows 11, so it will stop getting security updates.
  • The motherboard has failed on an older machine.
  • The repair would cost more than about half of a replacement.
  • Your work has outgrown it: new games, 4K video, CAD or many apps at once.

Can I buy a computer online from Alvyntra?

Not with an online checkout. Our shop is enquiry-based: send us an enquiry, call or WhatsApp, and we confirm the configuration, current price and availability with you. You then pay and collect in store. Accepted payment methods: Cash, UPI, debit / credit card.

Why don’t you show prices on the website?

Component prices, especially graphics cards, memory and storage, change often. Rather than show an out-of-date number, we give you the latest price for the exact configuration you want. Call or WhatsApp for a quote.

Do you deliver computers?

You can always collect from our shop in North Dum Dum. Delivery is available for: North Dum Dum, Dum Dum, Lake Town, Baranagar and nearby areas of Kolkata. Ask when you enquire.

What warranty do I get?

New components and new laptops carry the manufacturer's warranty, which we explain for each part when you buy. Refurbished systems come with our own warranty of 90 days on parts and labour. See terms & warranty.

Can I get a GST invoice for my business?

Is a desktop or a laptop better value?

For the same money, a desktop gives more performance, is easier to repair and can be upgraded part by part. A laptop is worth the premium if you need to carry it. Compare desktops and laptops.

Yes. Every configuration on the site is a starting point. We can change the processor, RAM, storage, graphics card or case to fit your budget, and tell you where extra money makes a real difference.
